One of the challenges I face when winterizing the trailer each fall is how and where to store all the linens and soft goods from the trailer. I decided right away when we got the trailer was that we were going to have a lot of designated “Camper” things to prevent having so much to load and unload each trip and combat accidentally forgetting things. Considering that the Linens for the trailer consist of:
- King Sized Quilt
- Queen BedPad
- Queen Blanket
- 2 sets of Queen Sheets
- 4 Pillows
- 4 Bath Towels
- 10-12 Hand Towels (Both Kitchen and Bath Ones)
- 20ish Washcloths
- 5 Table Clothes
- 4 Light Knit Jackets
- 2 Double Bed Pads
- 2 Double Bed Bottom Sheets
- 2 Slumber Bags
- 3 Small Thrown Blankets
- 2 Small Fleece Kids Blankets
It is A LOT to store. There is nowhere in our house to put all these linens for the winter, so they have to live in the trailer. The first winterization I considered how to do this without taking over the entire master bedroom in the trailer, and how to keep them clean over the 4-5 months they would be stored.
The answer: ZIPLOCK SPACE BAGS. These have been a life saver for handling the linens over the winter. They keep everything clean, compact and take up a lot less space. I basically wash everything, make sure it has all dried completely (Usually I wait a few days), pack it into a bunch of these bags. Vacuum out the air, and throw them all on the Master Bed (the mattress is covered with an old king sized top sheet for the winter for protection), right before we put the cover on for the winter. Super easy.

I have tried a couple of brands of Bags, and find that MagicBag is the one I like the best in terms of the easiest to use valves, “Zipper” closure, and I get the least amount of “Reinflates” over the course of the winter (I usually have one or two at least). Ziplock brand is also good, but the vacuum valves are a bit trickier to use.

So that is the basics of how I handle storing linens over the winter.
