SWW Food: Mystic Monk Coffee®

I enjoy my coffee black or with an occasional Irish coffee for dessert. Since my daily drink doesn’t have anything added, the flavor of the coffee really important to me. For me, Mystic Monk Coffee® is hands down the best coffee.

I became aware of Mystic Monk Coffee® through magazine ads, radio ads, and seeing it around my parish for a little bit. However, the premium price kept me from purchasing the coffee; I believed my cheap hazelnut coffee was just fine. It wasn’t until I wanted some pecan coffee that I seriously considered Mystic Monk Coffee®.

Since pecan coffee is not typical in Colorado, I could not find it in my regular stores. When I searched for pecan coffee on the internet, I found the Mystic Monk Royal Rum Pecan coffee. While not a straight pecan coffee, I finally decided to give them a try.

Due to shipping cost of 10 – 20 MonkShots® (Keurig® K-Cup compatible pods), I decided to take Mystic Monk Coffee® up on their free shipping by ordering more than $49 of coffee. I ordered a variety of flavors to taste what they had to offer, and I am glad I did. While the Royal Rum Pecan is good, they have coffees I enjoy more.

While I still have a Keurig®, the drip coffee maker in the travel trailer made me realize how much better Mystic Monk Coffee® tastes when prepared this way. To get this enjoyment at home I dug through the basement retrieving my old drip coffee maker, much to the annoyance of @sowewentmom. To help keep costs down, I have a budgeted line item to order batches of coffee every few months keeping the shipping free.

While Mystic Monk Coffee® is available through Amazon and I have included links below, Amazon® does not carry the full line of Mystic Monk Coffees®, teas, and seasonal items; nor does Amazon® carry the MonkShots®. If you want MonkShots®, more choices, or free shipping; I recommend to you order directly from the Mystic Monk Coffee® website. If they ask how you heard of them, please mention SoWeWentToTheRVShow.blog.

@sowewentmom, who doesn’t drink coffee but loves the smell of good coffee, says this is hands down the best smelling coffee in the world and makes the house or the trailer smell amazing. Her sister also loves the Super Monk coffee for its high caffeine content. Lastly, we like this coffee so much we include it as a gift to SoWeWentKids’ teachers every year.

Mystic Monk Coffee - Pascha Java

Pascha Java (Easter) / Jingle Bell Java (Christmas) (Seasonal) – 5 Stars
This is my favorite of the Mystic Monk Coffees®. This is coffee has essences of white chocolate, bourbon and some seasonal spice. It is delightful to drink without anything added.

Mystic Monk Coffee - Easter Blend

Easter Sunrise Blend (Seasonal)
I just received this coffee, so I am looking forward to tasting it and providing a review.

Mystic Monk Coffee - Christmas Blend

Christmas Blend (Seasonal) – 5 Stars
During Christmas, this is a great black coffee to break up the Jingle Bell Java binge. While it is more of a black coffee, it has tones of dark chocolate and other flavors that give it body and depth.

Mystic Monk Blend (Dark Roast) – 5 Stars
This is a wonderful, full-bodied coffee. Outside of the Christmas Season, this is one of my favorites. Even after the coffee has cooled down, it tastes great.

Breakfast Blend (Medium Roast) – 5 Stars
This is a very nice blend of coffee in the morning. It is light and refreshing while still having a solid coffee flavor.

Midnight Vigils Blend (Dark Roast) – 5 Stars
If you like strong, dark coffee this is the coffee for you. If you prefer room for cream and sugar, this coffee blends very well.

Paradiso Blend (Medium Roast) – 4 Stars
This is a very nice coffee that I enjoy black in the mornings. I like it for a variety over the years, but I tend to gravitate to the Mystic Monk Blend and the Breakfast blend more.

Mystic Monk Coffee - Royal Rum Pecan

Royal Rum Pecan (Flavored) – 4 Stars
This coffee has tones of pecan, rum, and fresh cream. While this was the coffee that convinced me to try Mystic Monk Coffee®, I prefer several of the other flavors. It is a nice coffee and I still order it to have occasionally through the year.

Hazelnut – 3 Stars
Before becoming of Mystic Monk Coffee® fan this was my go-to flavor, and still is if I cannot have Mystic Monk Coffee®. For a hazelnut coffee, this does not quite hit the mark for me. It is still a good hazelnut coffee, but I rather choose another blend from Mystic Monk Coffee®.

Vespers Decaf – 4 Stars
I like to have this coffee on hand, both as a MonkShot® for just me and as ground when we have company over, so I can have a coffee with dessert or as an Irish treat. It does have some notes of chocolate and malts, but it is still a straightforward black, decaf coffee that is great by itself or with a little Irish flavoring.

Mystic Monk Coffee - Pumpkin Spice

Pumpkin Spice (Seasonal) – 4 Stars
If you like the ubiquitous pumpkin spice for fall, you need to order this coffee early in the season before it is sold out. This is not the typical, sweet pumpkin pie flavoring that many of the coffees have, but a coffee with pumpkin spice. It goes great with creamers. I like to have a caffeinated version for the morning and decaf for the evening to enjoy with seasonal desserts and cookies.
